In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

Today we did the flagpole to flagpole run.  It was windy and a little bit rainy but that didn't stop us, its officially cross country!  I'm going to hopefully be able to run with the East High team while getting my workouts from the U done, we'll see if we can incorporate those.  We went to the U flagpole first and then the Westminster one.  Nat and I hadn't run since our race Saturday so we stayed towards the back at a relaxed pace.  And we got separated from the group because we hit 2 red lights haha.  Oh well.  When I got home I did my crunches, pushups, and arm swings.

Today for workout we met in the commons and then ran to Sugarhouse Park and did part of a lap, until we were at 2 and a half miles, and then turned around and came back the same way. I was with Taylor, Natalie, Amanda, and Abigail for most of the way back. All of us had been in a group on the way there. When I got home I did my crunches, pushups, and arm swings.

This morning we had practice at Liberty Park.  After waiting a long time for Bill we decided to run to the half mile mark and back and then stretch for a few minutes.  Finally we decided to just do our workout.  I did 3 full laps to bring my total mileage to 5 and a half.  When I got home I did my abs, pushups, and arm swings.

Today after graduation practice I went for a run on my own with my iPod because if I went to practice that would be cutting it close to making my graduation.  I ran from my house to Sugarhouse Park and then did part of an outer lap going counter clockwise until I was at a 2 and a half.  When I was at about 2 and a quarter I totally tripped and wiped out over a tree root but fortunately it was just grass and mud streaks on my skin and no cuts.  I went back the same way I came.  When I got home I did my abs, pushups, and arm swings.

This morning we had practice at Liberty Park.  Some of us are racing tomorrow so we had an easy workout.  We did a lap warmup, 10 strides, and then a lap cooldown.

This morning at the race after picking up packets, I did about a mile and a half warmup with Abigail.  We ran out to 4500s and back and did a lap in the park, then dropped our hoodies and then went out and back again.  Then we changed shoes and I took my Gu and then we did some strides over to the starting area.  When they lined us up we both did a stride to get onto the front line.  When the race started there were 2 girls with me, one was Emily and the other was a girl in a red shirt.  They both passed me and I didn't fight too hard to catch them right then because I know I have a habit of always starting too fast in 5ks after track season.  But then I heard Bill yelling from behind to catch them now so I pushed.  I was able to catch the girl in red but Em was able to hold the gap.  At mile 1 I was at 5:31, so just a little slower than at Running of the Leopards.  At the turnaround I think Em opened the gap even more after the turnaround when she saw where I was even though I wasn't that close.  Still I tried to close on her the last half and eventually I probably was going the same speed as her but she still kept the gap on me.  I finished in 18:28 (according to my watch, I haven't seen official results) so I guess I've got work to do to break 18 on a flat course.  Afterwards I cooled down 3 and a half miles in a group with Bill, Emily, Rob, Greg, and Lisa.  Then I had fun racing up the climbing wall with Abigail!
